Contributing to the International Type Museum (I.T.M.) :

Adding faces to the International Type Museum is an important matter. It deals with pieces of craft and work that are to be respected : typefaces, and font files. As this project is meant to help authors, there are some few requirements to apply typefaces and fonts :
  • The typefaces must be added by their author.

  • The font submitted to the Museum must be eitheir Public domain, Freeware or Shareware . No commercial type will be included, as it isn't a commercial project, and we won't sell them for you.

  • The author must really need to have them hosted in the I.T.M. : anyone stopping his type activities but that still have a website can still host the font files himself, and doesn t need us...

  • The author should provide us with a valid email or a classic mail adress so we can keep track of its ownership on the fonts and typefaces, and must provide us with a font file of each typeface submitted (Mac or Windows files).

  • The types are selected on a quality basis The Font board of the I.T.I. (which gathers typographers and designers) will examine them.
Only the best ones will then be hosted in the museum, and kept available through links in the museum pages (one file format for each main computer platform).

  • The submission process :
    1. If your foundry and your fonts ain't yet in the International Type Index, submit them, using the add foundry process, and the add fonts link once your foundry is available.

    2. Once your foundry and fonts submissions are validated (you'll be warned by email), contact us by email using the Contact page and choosing "Museum" as a subject.
Please indicate the closing date and the reason why the foundry is closing.
Please remember that by submiting your typefaces, you accept that they shall be re-distributed throught the Museum under one of the following legal status : Public domain, Freeware, shareware. Please indicate which status and fee amount you're choosing.

    3. We'll download your fonts from your website ASAP and submit them to the I.T.I. Font Board. This board is elected on a yearly basis by the members of the Point Central non-profit organisation, and they are all respected individuals in the Typographic field or in graphic design, that are doing this on a non-profit basis.
    4. As soon as the board will have will have stated, we'll inform you by mail which faces have been selected to be conservated in the International Type Museum.
The invoice will include a PDF document with all the information that you MUST sign and send back to us by postal mail. You shall also keep a print ex. of it in a safe place.

    5. Once we'll have received this signed document, your selected typefaces will be made available throught the Museum pages, and the infos will be updated in your foundry page.
    This is it.

It may seem a bit long a process, but this is to give you all legal protection your work deserve!

And remember that, except if you choose the Public Domain status, the fonts and Typefaces remain your entire legal and intellectual property. We only host them for you, and will only do so with your written permission.
Besides, as stated in our pdf document, you can change your mind at any moment, and withdraw your faces from the museum with a simple email.
